Leaderr approved Warehouse Epoxy Flooring South Africa - flooring installers spreading a grey epoxy floor coating with a squeegee and spiked roller in an open-plan office, with Table Mountain visible through the windows

Warehouse epoxy flooring South Africa: coatings for storage and distribution floors that carry forklifts, pallet jacks and constant turning traffic. A sealed floor cuts concrete dust and makes aisles and walkways easier to mark.

Forklifts and Pallet Jacks

  • Hard wheels put high point loads on the floor. Thin coatings wear through in turning areas.
  • Thicker, high-build systems are used in main traffic lanes.
  • Steel wheels and dragged pallets need the toughest systems or a mortar build.

Aisles and Racking

  • Coat before racking goes in if possible. Coating around existing racking costs more.
  • Racking anchors drilled through new coatings need sealing.
  • Narrow-aisle trucks need flat floors. A coating does not correct floor flatness.

Loading Areas

  • Dock levellers and doors take impact and water blown in by rain.
  • Non slip texture helps on ramps and at doors.
  • Areas in direct sun need a UV-stable topcoat.

Line Marking

MarkingNote
Aisles and walkwaysPainted or epoxy lines; walkways often in a contrasting colour
Pallet bays and no-go zonesLaid out to your site safety plan
TapeQuick but lifts under forklift traffic

Line marking is usually priced per metre on top of the floor coating.

Abrasion and Joints

  • Grit from outside is the main cause of wear. Sweep daily and keep doors clean.
  • Saw-cut joints are cleaned and filled with a suitable filler so wheels do not chip the edges.
  • Damaged joint arrises are repaired before coating.

Phased Installation

  1. Split the floor into zones.
  2. Move stock and close one zone at a time.
  3. Work weekends or after hours where needed.
  4. Use fast-cure systems where downtime is costly.
  5. Re-open each zone only after its load-bearing cure time.

Prices JUST UPDATED. Ballpark figures per m² for supply and installation, taken from rates published by South African flooring contractors and cost guides and rounded. They are not our prices or quotations, and no contractor is bound by them. Most sources do not say whether VAT or preparation is included, so confirm both on every quote.

  • Kandua - epoxy flooring prices per square metre in South Africa

Large floors cost less per m², while racking, phasing and joints add cost. See the epoxy flooring cost guide.

Return to Use

Many standard epoxy systems take light foot traffic after about 24 hours, vehicles or heavy loads after about 5 to 7 days, and reach full chemical resistance after about 7 days at around 20°C. Cold weather slows curing, and fast-cure systems are quicker. Ask the contractor for the times printed on the product data sheet for the exact system they quote. Forklift traffic should wait for the full load-bearing time, not the walk-on time.

Maintenance

  • Sweep and scrub with ride-on scrubbers suited to the coating.
  • Repair chips in lanes before they spread.
  • Recoat main lanes on a planned cycle, and refresh line marking.

Warehouse Epoxy Flooring South Africa FAQs

Will epoxy stand up to forklifts?

A suitably thick system will. Thin coats wear through in turning areas, so describe your forklifts and wheel type when requesting quotes.

Can the warehouse stay open during installation?

Usually, by working in zones and at weekends. Each zone stays closed until it can carry loads.

Does coating reduce concrete dust?

Yes. Sealing the surface stops bare concrete dusting under traffic.

Is line marking included?

Not always. It is often priced separately per metre. Ask for it as a line item.

Should racking be removed?

It is easier and cheaper to coat before racking goes in. Coating around racking is possible but slower.
